Life

"What season is it these days, I wonder... First, our conversation went quiet! For a while, they searched for an answer to a question stuck in their mind... Evidently, they couldn't find it, and without tiring their mind further, they asked!

'What season is it these days, I wonder...'

For a moment, I stared at their face, bewildered! 'What season?' I asked in surprise.

'You know, what grows, what ripens on the branches these days?'

As if I had found the answer to a very precious question that had been sought for years...

'Blackberry Season,' I said."

In the Aegean region, figs—the largest source of agricultural income—have been gathered from their branches and laid out to meet the sun.

This year's fig harvest has seen a decline in mountain fig yields due to sun scorching, a result of higher-than-average temperatures.

This has caused the market price for sifted figs to reach 800 Turkish Lira per kilogram.

These unique photographs, showing the figs meeting the sun on drying racks after the harvest, are works of art due to the product's price.

We will see what the coming years and the increasingly severe climate crisis will bring to our country's geography.

Export orders continue to be collected for this valuable agricultural product from the Aegean region. The fact that the product's kilogram price is around $20 is raising concerns about its affordability for local citizens.

While Antep Pistachios, at 1,200 TL / $30 per kilogram, hold the top spot in retail sales among field-grown products, it seems consumers might soon forget the taste of these goods.

If things continue this way...

If the rising costs for producers and the continued appreciation of foreign currencies against the Turkish Lira persist... The Turkish people may not even be able to eat the products grown on their own land!

"If you want to know a country, look at how the people die."

Albert CAMUS This quote by Albert CAMUS summarizes much of the content of my writing. And between the lines, I will provide examples of how the reality described by this quote is reflected in our society.

Culture is defined as the sum total of all traditional ways of life, thought, and artistic expression that form a community's sense of unity in perception and thought.

As written above, this is the fleeting definition of "culture"... but it's high time we moved beyond the literal meaning. Because a large segment of the population in this country does not choose the difficult path to success, which includes "reading, understanding, and learning."

That's why I want to pull culture from between the closed pages of books and examine it together. Raising Kings and Queens...

Where did the need to commit a CRIME arise to gain "manhood," "being a man," and other inflated ego-gratifying words and their meanings?

And the young girls, who have become "women," who choose their "man" based on his criminal record or the level of fear he has instilled in his surroundings... The root of "Cultural Decay" is, of course, domestic violence and the disregard for children. Of course, this is not a finding that can be dismissed so easily! Parents are also in a rush to raise princes and princesses, or rather, they are raising completely "IRRESPONSIBLE" children who don't take responsibility for their mistakes, thus adding fuel to this landslide of decay...

Economic Depression --> Depression in Work Life Depression in Family Life --> Irresponsible Children

RESULT: Characters Prone to Violence and Decay When you look at the flow above, you can see that everything is rooted in ECONOMIC FREEDOM. Although some might say that people's "immorality and tendency toward violence" should not be oversimplified...

The foundation of a family unit is, in the end, the hard-earned sweat that is the reward for labor. However, for parents who do not receive fair compensation for their labor, their mental well-being deteriorates, and even if they try to control it to a certain extent, an eventual breakdown is an inevitable end.

Of course, economic realities are not the only problem. Children from families with a high "standard of living" also become standard-bearers for violence and decay. Let's be clear, we are not criticizing the economically lower class of society! The pitcher breaks on its way to the well... Oh, and then there are those who shout, "The pitcher breaks on its way to the well" after these "bad" characters, as if they themselves are so pure. "Racy videos are being posted on social media" But who's watching them, my friend? How do you know the way to them, you who are as innocent as a lamb? And what is your reason for giving a platform to those who share this content?

Social media platforms, which provide unlimited access for people to reach one another, have become a stage for perverted or violence-prone characters. This process has led to a much faster rise in status and income for these individuals, thanks to the "FOLLOWERS" they gain.

This rise, of course, occurred due to the dynamics of the SUPPLY and DEMAND algorithm. When the step of decay taking over generations in the technological sphere was completed, everything else became a "give and take."

And characters who could not find their place in and were excluded from real society saw no problem in using their social media profiles as they wished. The strange thing is not their abuse of this freedom! It is society's support for these abuses and then their complaints about it... This is where the "hypocrisy" of the story truly comes to light. You can't have your cake and eat it too. I will pause this beginning by summarizing it with the saying, "You can't have your cake and eat it too."
